Indiana University of Pennsylvania Communicating the Strategic Plan Paper

Getting Started

The best strategic plans in the world are not likely to be successful if they are not effectively communicated to those who must implement them: the employees. – Jake Laban and Jack Green

A strategy map is a diagram that shows your organization’s strategy on a single page. It is designed to quickly communicate the big-picture objectives to everyone in the company. With a well-designed strategy map, every employee can know the overall strategy and where he or she fits in. It keeps everyone on the same page, and allows him or her to see how their jobs affect the company’s strategic objectives.

A strategy map works in concert with a balanced scorecard. The balanced scorecard is a strategic management system that allows an organization to monitor its progress toward its strategic goals in a manner that assures a balanced perspective.
