Assignment

Must be in 12 point, Times New Roman with 1” margins. Length should be approximately 3 pages double spaced (excluding Title Page, Abstract page and References page) including your summary paper of research and your QAPI worksheet. Must follow all APA format requirements.

All questions must be responded to.

Go to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website and read about QAPI (Quality Assurance Process Improvement) http://www.medicare.gov/NursingHomeCompare/About/What-Is-NHC.html and the 5 elements of QAPI. Assignment 1 Directions:

Use the same nursing facility you selected for Discussion Board 1 on the CMS Nursing Home Compare website (http://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare/search.html).

For your chosen facility, select either

A.) an inspection result health deficiency OR

B.) a quality measure that is rated below the quality average for Kentucky or National.

*Note: I have provided an example of both Option A and Option B at the end of this document to help you understand what I am asking you to do.

1. Provide the name and location of the facility you selected.

2. Provide detail on what quality measure you have selected.

3. Provide a weblink to the quality measure you have selected.

4. Research: find at minimum of 2 full article references on Google Scholar that provide history or recommendations relative to the quality measure you selected. For example, you might choose residents that experienced pain as your quality measure to improve upon because your nursing home has a higher than average rating for that quality measure

You can find articles that talk about pain levels of residents, how to determine pain for non-communicating residents, alternative methods to pain reduction, etc. Summarize and cite these sources in 1-2 pages and how that information was utilized and beneficial to development of your QAPI Goal Setting Worksheet.

5. Utilizing the measure that you selected, complete a QAPI Goal Setting Worksheet for quality improvement. Your Goal Sheet should result in either no deficiencies on the next inspection process or improved quality rating percentage for the facility.

*Your goals/action plans must be REALISTIC!!!! Do not put that you will do a daily audit every shift of with every staff member because you cannot possibly do that unless within your document you state staff that will assist you in that process. Again, think about if what you have put is REALISTIC or not.

Details:

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

Select a Nursing Conceptual Model from Topic 2, and prepare a 12-slide PowerPoint presentation about the model. Include:

A brief overview of the nursing conceptual model selected.
Explanation of how the nursing conceptual model incorporates the four metaparadigm concepts.
Explain at least three specific ways in which the nursing conceptual model could be used to improve nursing practice. Elaborate, explain, or defend each point mentioned.
Provide current reliable sources to establish credibility for the presentation.

Requirements for PowerPoint are as follows:

10 slides for content.
1 slide for references.
1 slide for the title, which includes: (a) title of the presentation, (b) names of the CLC group members, and (c) date
Accompanying speaker notes elaborating on the information contained in each slide.
One member of the CLC group will submit the presentation, speaker notes, and the completed “CLC Group Project Agreement” to the instructor.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Students should review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the criteria and expectations for successful completion.

Discipline-Based Literature Review

For this discipline-based literature review, you will research peer-reviewed articles that were published within the last 10 years in the Ashford University Library on the following major perspectives of personality.

Psychodynamic
Behavioral
Trait
Learning/Social
Humanistic

You will utilize your researched article to create your literature review. The review should be formatted with the headings and content designated below.

Introduction
Assess the types of personality measurements and research designs used in in the peer-reviewed articles you researched. Briefly describe the main theoretical models represented within each of the perspectives of personality and explain the commonalities found across all five.

Discussion
Examine the major theoretical approaches, research methods, and assessment instruments used in the five perspectives of personality. Evaluate and describe the current research in these perspectives using a minimum of one peer-reviewed article for each of the five required perspectives. Present a detailed critique of each of the perspectives by evaluating the standardization, reliability and validity, and cultural considerations present in the most common personality assessments used within each. Support your opinions about each model by substantiating them with scholarly research. Be sure to include the following:

The theoretical framework(s) for the selected models
The major contributors to those fields
The methods of inquiry and assessment usually associated with those models
An overview of the characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of the models

Conclusion
Provide a summary of your evaluation addressing the current use and relevance of these perspectives in explaining personality citing research as appropriate.

Writing the Discipline Based Literature Review

The paper:

Ethics in healthcare

You have been appointed Director of Public Relations and Ethics at County Hospital. The hospital is facing several urgent situations regarding the following issues. Your Stand-Alone Project responses should be both grammatically and mechanically correct and formatted in the same fashion as the project itself. Part A White Papers: You are charged with preparing white papers on these topics. White papers present various positions, explaining the strengths and weaknesses of each; they do not give or defend the author’s position. Write a one-page paper on each of the topics listed above. Include a bibliography formatted in APA style. (100 points) (5 pages)

Part B Questions and Rationales: You must also instruct the hospital’s Ethics Committee to discuss these issues in depth and revise the hospital’s ethics handbook. As part of your work with the Ethics Committee, you must draft three (3) questions that will guide Ethics Committee deliberations for each of the five (5) topics (15 questions total). For each question provide the rationale for the question. (45 points) (2 pages)

Part C Press Release Flyers: In addition to the white papers, you are charged with preparing 1/2-page summaries of your own position on each of these topics in the form of a flyer that clearly states hospital policy and the rationale behind it. (In real life, this flyer would state the position and rationale of your ethics committee). Each summary should contain less than 200 words and should cover the main ethical issues that patients and their families might have. (35 points) (3 pages)

A suggested outline for these summaries is as follows.

1. State the position clearly in one paragraph.

2. Allot one paragraph for each ethical position, giving reasons for and against each of them.

3. Restate your position and give persuasive arguments for it.

4. Indicate that hospital personnel are available to discuss ethical issues with family members.

When you review various curricular plans, you may see a variety of terms. Some programs use the term “program outcomes” while others use the term “terminal objectives” for those actions that the student is expected to accomplish upon graduation. The same is true for individual courses. Some programs call the knowledge and skills that a student should master by the end of the course “course outcomes” while others use the term “course objectives.” All of the terms have a specified definition in literature and according to accreditation agencies. What are the similarities and differences between the terms according to the literature and to accrediting agencies? Select a program or course (other than GCU) and critique their use of these terms. Do they use them in a manner consistent with the literature and/or accreditation agencies or do they use them differently? Include your review of the program in your response to this discussion question. Support your response with literature. Your critique could be at the program level or at the course level. You do not need to do both levels. At least 400-500 words with at least 2-3 references.
