Antibiotic Resistance

Introduction:

Since their development in the early 20th century, antibiotics have served as “miracle drugs” by curing bacterial infections that were once fatal. However, our antibiotics are becoming less effective over time as bacteria evolve resistance to their effects. A global public health crisis is growing as bacterial resistance is happening faster than new antibiotic development. In this module you will learn about how antibiotics resistance happens and what we can do to slow this process.

By the end of this module you should be able to:

– Identify the different ways by which antibiotics affect bacteria

– Describe the process that leads to antibiotic resistance

– Recognize how human actions function to increase the rate of antibiotic resistance

– Explain why antibiotic resistance is a growing global problem

Assessment Interview

As we covered in the text this lesson, there are many different tools and approaches to the assessment interview. How would you approach an assessment interview? What are some questions you would absolutely include? What are the most important areas to cover, in your opinion?

Counseling and Self-Help Groups

You are encouraging a client whom you see in individual therapy to attend some AA/NA meetings to support their recovery, but your client is reluctant. How might you convince him/her to attend some meetings?

How to develop design an evaluation for a health promotion program?

Assignment: Evaluation Plan

This is one of my questions and is a question for PROCESS EVALUATION: Did the program education materials on the benefits of physical activities distributed as planned among African-Americans with coronary heart disease?

MY PROGRAM: CORONARY HEART DISEASE PREVENTION IN AFRICAN AMERICAN POPULATION

Once the program has been designed, it is time to consider how the program will be evaluated. To design an evaluation, you must identify a specific evaluation question and determine the best way to answer it. The evaluation design and methods should be aligned to allow for the collection of data that will answer the specific evaluation question being posed. Poorly designed evaluations lead to wasted time and effort, as well as data that are not useful for program improvement.

For this Assignment, you are developing an Evaluation Plan for the program you proposed in Module 4. Module 5 covered the steps for designing a program evaluation. Select one of the evaluation questions you developed in Module 5 and design a 6- to 8-page Evaluation Plan that meets the following criteria:

  • State the evaluation question you are evaluating, and explain why it is important.
  • Discuss which evaluation design you use and why.
  • Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the design used. Identify any threats to measurement reliability and validity that you might encounter when collecting data, and discuss what you would do to reduce these threats.
  • Describe the methods you would use to collect data to answer the evaluation question.
  • Describe any modifications needed to an existing instrument, an instrument that would need to be developed, and/or existing records to access and provide your rationale.
  • Summarize the ways in which your evaluation results might be used to improve the program’s quality, utility, and impact on the priority populations, and provide an explanation for why you think the results might be used in these ways.

Support your work with specific citations from this module’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct.

Cultural groups

Your Session Long Project will deal with various aspects of health of an ethnic/minority group in the U.S. and with the relationship between this group’s cultural characteristics, socio-economic status, and health.

Your Task:

Choose a culture group that resides in the U.S. Your project has to address the following issues:

Statistical data on the size, the geographical distribution, the growth, and the predominant health problems in this group.

You can use these government websites:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (2007). Minority populations. Retrieved August 31, 2007, from http://www.cdc.gov/MinorityHealth/index.html

U.S. Census Bureau. (2001). Mapping Census 2000: The geography of U.S. diversity data tables. Retrieved November 13, 2008, from http://www.census.gov/population/www/cen2000/atlas/data.html

From the CDC site you can perform searches on any health topic as it relates to ethnicity (a proxy for culture) in the United States. Cite all the references you are using.

GCU Nursing Professional Practice

Physical Geography: Create a Mind Map Climate Classification System

The instructions for this assignment are in the PDF! i have also provided a map pdf, this link is also helpful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Köppen_climate_classification#/media/File:World_Köppen_Classification_(with_authors).svg

HELPFUL TIP BELOW:

The Capital Letters at the beginning of the Sequence are Generally Associated with our First Major Control on Climjate:

The Latitude of the Location

A Tropical (generally found in Equatorial Regions-usually within 20 degrees N or S)
BW Dry Desert (generally found between 20 and 30 degrees North or South latitude)
BS Dry Steppe (not as dry as BW -these usually border the BW zones)
C Mesothermal (generally found in the lower mid-latitudes, 30-45 degrees N and S)
D Microthermal (generally found in the upper mid-latitude, 45-65 N)
ET Polar Tundra (generally found beyond 60 degrees N and S)
EF Polar Ice Caps (generally found beyond 60 degrees N and S)

H Highland (I set this one apart -Why?)

What do the Lower Case Letters tell us?

Moisture Classification
f wet all year
m monsoon
w wet and dry with winter drought
s summer drought
n fog

This group tells us when the rains fall; all year/part of the year/heavier at times
It’s easy to remember the m for monsoon and w for wet with winter drought or s for summer drought. But, what about the f for Wet All Year and n for Fog, What is that about? Shouldn’t these be the other way around? Chalk it up to Linguistic differences (culture doesn’t always get squeezed out of scientific debate-we try to standardize but we use our own language of origin to find the words to describe the things we observe and that is exactly what Vladimir Koeppen did here).

Temperature Classification
k cold and dry
h hot and dry
a very hot summer (warmest month about 72 degrees F)
b very warm summer (warmest month below 72F with 4 months above 50F)
c warm summer (warmest month below 72F/1-3 months above 50F/coldest over -36F)
d cool summer with very cold winter (coldest month below -36F)

These further designations indicate how the temperature varies – h is for hot and k like c sounds like cold and they needed the c to give summer its grade. Grading our summer weather-don’t know if I would give the very HOT summer an A but at least you will know that summers are cooler the lower you go!

Paper about state of lobster with summary and discussion

Requirement: the paper should be well-written and referenced. It should contain a brief summary of the relevant lectures and assigned readings for the selected case study, an assessment of the in-class discussion as well as a reflection on the papers and lectures on the topic, including, for example,How does it fit into the field of Marine Science and how might it contribute to bridging the science/policy gap? What are some of the challenges and opportunities observed as a result of the readings and lectures for the selected cases

My topic is: state of lobster, we have present with google slides on

The paper do not have page number requirement but have a brief summary of slides and topic, which is state of lobster. The assessment can focus on the catch allocation and hypothesis policy may not perfectly fit into the field of marine science and marine economy and briefly discuss with it. And the challenges and opportunities observed as a result of readings and cases. Need well organized citation and reference, at least two pages of content of single space.

Capstone Project Change Proposal

In this assignment, students will pull together the change proposal project components they have been working on throughout the course to create a proposal inclusive of sections for each content focus area in the course. At the conclusion of this project, the student will be able to apply evidence-based research steps and processes required as the foundation to address a clinically oriented problem or issue in future practice.

Students will develop a 1,250-1,500 word paper that includes the following information as it applies to the problem, issue, suggestion, initiative, or educational need profiled in the capstone change proposal:

  1. Background
  2. Problem statement
  3. Purpose of the change proposal
  4. PICOT
  5. Literature search strategy employed
  6. Evaluation of the literature
  7. Applicable change or nursing theory utilized
  8. Proposed implementation plan with outcome measures
  9. Identification of potential barriers to plan implementation, and a discussion of how these could be overcome
  10. Appendix section, if tables, graphs, surveys, educational materials, etc. are created

Review the feedback from your instructor on the Topic 3 assignment, PICOT Statement Paper, and Topic 6 assignment, Literature Review. Use the feedback to make appropriate revisions to the portfolio components before submitting.

Healthcare Quality and Ensuring Workplace Safety

Using a minimum of 8-10 slides, develop a PowerPoint presentation showing an epidemiologic analysis of a health problem. Your slides should define and show comparative measures that quantify the problem, for example using information spread over years or among nations or age groups. The slides must show both tabular and graphic data and be comprehensible to a layperson without benefit of a complete presentation. Then write a 4-page synopsis of your slide presentation with a bibliography formatted in APA style. In addition, you must appropriately cite all resources used in your response and document in a bibliography using APA style.
